Shared Value Solutions (SVS) works with Indigenous communities across Canada to help protect and advance their rights and interests. In some cases, we complete applications for funding for our clients so that they can access the resources they need to meet their goals.
We are seeking a qualified person to assist us with grant and funding proposal writing. The responsibilities would include:
Actively seek, identify and recognize opportunities that present viable funding opportunities that match the needs and interests of our clients
Write and submit grants and funding proposals
Research, interpret and disseminate information to the SVS team on funding resources
Work to develop an annual funding application schedule and plan
Create and maintain systems for disseminating information about external funding opportunities and other funding application related information to the SVS team and to clients
Provide assistance to the SVS team and our clients in planning, writing, designing budgets and work plans for funding applications
Maintain a positive, proactive relationship with the SVS Management Team, Business Development Coordinator, and Financial Coordinator
Work collaboratively with other SVS team members as needed to coordinate funding applications
Assist SVS and its clients with internal procedures around funding application compliance (e.g. signing agreements, obtaining Band Council Resolutions, administration of funding, evaluation documentation)
Serve as a liaison with government / program funding officers
Create, design and implement processes and procedures related to grant and funding proposal management and development
Track funding application submissions and progress
Assist in training other SVS staff on principles of effective funding applications as needed
Advise the SVS Management Team on any funding application issues
Mandatory Qualifications and Experience
Successful completion of a college or university program related to grant writing, fund development or similar
Knowledge of principles and techniques of grant or funding proposal writing and budgeting
Proven track-record with successful grant or funding proposal writing in the environmental and/or community development field or related
Knowledge of funding application resources and information sources
Ability to interpret and apply government / funder rules, regulations, RFP guidelines and legislation and to double check funding application text against application requirements
Strong plain language written and oral communications proficiency
Entrepreneurial spirit, including an interest in and experience with relationship-based approaches to fund development
Ability to analyze, evaluate and recommend innovative solutions
Enjoys working under pressure and in some cases working longer hours to meet deadlines
Demonstrated negotiation skills
Computer proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, Adobe Acrobat, and online research
Interest in and respect for Indigenous culture and history
Thrives in a culture of freedom and responsibility (CLICK HERE for more on the concept)
Experience with, and a passion for, social media, inbound marketing strategy, blogging, and experience with HubSpot
Adobe Creative Suite experience – particularly with InDesign graphics software
Experience working with interdisciplinary teams
Understanding of environmental assessment in Canada, Indigenous issue in Canada, natural resource management, environmental planning, land use planning, the arts, and community development
Experience working directly for or with First Nation, Metis and/or Inuit communities or organizations in Canada
Experience working in the consulting sector
